Where should a porta potty go at a Lake Ray Hubbard home?
Put the unit on the flattest, firmest ground near the house or driveway, not down by the water. Lakefront Rowlett yards often slope toward Lake Ray Hubbard, and ground near the shore stays soft. The driver rolls the unit about 15 feet on a dolly, so the spot must be close to where the truck parks.

Lake Ray Hubbard is owned by the City of Dallas. Land between a home and the water may be city take-line property, not part of your lot. Keep the unit on your own land unless you have approval.
- Pick level concrete, gravel or packed dirt.
- Keep the door away from the wind off the lake.
- Do not set a unit on a dock, bulkhead or boat ramp.
See weekend and backyard party rentals for party-length pricing.
How many units does a lake party need?
Use 1 standard unit per 50 guests for up to 4 hours, then add 1 per 100 guests for longer parties and 1 per 100 if alcohol is served. A 120-guest Fourth of July lake party over 8 hours with drinks needs 3 base units plus 2 plus 2, so 7 units.
Add 2 two-station hand wash sinks for 7 toilets. Units drop Friday and pick up Monday, so the extra holiday-weekend days cost nothing.
| Guests | Hours | Alcohol | Units | Sinks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 40 | 3 | No | 1 | 1 |
| 80 | 6 | Yes | 4 | 1 |
| 120 | 8 | Yes | 7 | 2 |
| 200 | 8 | Yes | 8 | 2 |
For multi-day holiday weekends, ask for a mid-event service visit. Each visit is quoted first.

Call (972) 812-6200Get quoteDoes a Rowlett event need a special event permit?
Rowlett requires a special event permit for 100 or more attendees, events near Downtown Rowlett, vendors, amplified sound, park use, traffic changes and temporary structures such as tents or stages. Rowlett wants the application at least 60 business days before the event. Applying does not guarantee approval.
Start at the Rowlett special event permit application page. Rowlett takes applications through an online event portal.
Sixty business days is about 12 weeks. Book restrooms once the permit is approved. Cancel or reschedule free until 7 PM the business day before delivery. After that, a trip fee may apply. The city page does not list a restroom count, so confirm with the special events office. This is not legal advice.
How long is the drive to Rowlett?
Rowlett is about 15 to 18 miles from our yard at 6000 Split Trail Rd in east Plano. Trucks take the Bush Turnpike (SH-190) east, which runs through Rowlett to I-30, and exit at Main Street (SH-66) or Miller Road. Plan on 20 to 30 minutes outside rush hour.
Homes south of I-30 and near the Sapphire Bay area add a few minutes. Give us the full address and a marked spot.
The driver calls 30 to 60 minutes ahead. No exact arrival time is guaranteed, which is why we never schedule a drop for the hour your party starts.
What about events near Downtown Rowlett and Main Street?
Any event near Downtown Rowlett falls under the special event permit rules, even under 100 people. The DART Blue Line's Downtown Rowlett station sits nearby, and street space is limited. Place units on a private lot or an approved site, with at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit per cluster.
The wheelchair-accessible unit is 62 inches wide and 62 inches deep outside, so it needs more room than a standard unit. The ADA standard calls for a 60-inch turning space; outside, plan a clear, level path to the door. Confirm the layout with the venue or permit office.
Placing a unit in a public street or right-of-way may need city approval. We set on private property by default.
Can I rent a toilet during a home repair?
Yes. Many Rowlett homes date from the 1970s to the 1990s, and sewer line, slab and bathroom repairs can leave a family without a toilet. One standard unit in the driveway covers most homes. Jobs that run over a week often fit a 28-day rental with weekly service.
A 28-day rental includes weekly pump-out, cleaning and restock. Pickup is not automatic; call or text, and billing stops that day. See our 28-day billing guide.
After rain we set units on the driveway or gravel, not the lawn.
