Which industrial sites rent portable toilets?
5 main kinds of sites: manufacturing plants, warehouses, distribution centers, utility and pipeline crews, and plants in a shutdown or turnaround. Each one needs a different setup. A warehouse adds overflow units. A pipeline crew needs a towable unit. A shutdown needs extra units for 1 to 6 weeks.
| Site | Why they call | Typical setup |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturing plant | Restroom remodel, plumbing outage, contractor crews | Standard units plus a hand wash sink, 28-day cycle |
| Warehouse or distribution center | Peak season temps, dock crews far from indoor restrooms | Units near the dock doors, weekly or twice-weekly service |
| Utility or pipeline crew | Work site moves along a route | Towable trailer-mounted unit |
| Plant shutdown or turnaround | Contractor headcount jumps for a few weeks | Extra units and a short, high-volume service plan |
| Yard, depot or lay-down area | No building on site | Standard units and a hand wash sink |
Building sites follow a different OSHA rule. If your job is new construction, see our jobsite toilet guide.
What does OSHA 1910.141 say about toilets at a plant?
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.141 covers sanitation at permanent workplaces in general industry. Its Table J-1 sets minimum toilets by headcount: 1 for 1 to 15 workers, 2 for 16 to 35, and 6 for 111 to 150. Over 150 workers, add 1 more for each extra 40 workers. Portable units can add capacity.
| Workers | Minimum toilets (Table J-1) |
|---|---|
| 1 to 15 | 1 |
| 16 to 35 | 2 |
| 36 to 55 | 3 |
| 56 to 80 | 4 |
| 81 to 110 | 5 |
| 111 to 150 | 6 |
| Over 150 | 1 more for each extra 40 workers |
Shutdown contractors doing construction-type work may fall under 29 CFR 1926.51 instead. Your safety manager decides which standard applies. This is not legal advice. Read the full text of OSHA 1910.141.
How do you handle restrooms for a plant shutdown or turnaround?
For a plant shutdown, give us the peak contractor headcount, the start date and the number of shifts. We set the extra units 1 to 2 days before the crews arrive and pick them up when you call. Shutdowns of a week or less use a flat rate; longer ones bill on a 28-day cycle.

- Send a site map with the drop spots marked, or have someone meet the driver.
- Tell us your shift change times so service does not block a crowd.
- Group units in clusters near the work areas, with a hand wash sink at each cluster.
- Plan for 2 or 3 service visits per week, Monday through Saturday, when crews run around the clock.
We reviewed 185 recorded calls from people renting porta potties in 2026 (172 reached a live conversation). 20% of callers (34 of 172) needed 2 or more units. Multi-unit orders go smoothest when one person on site owns the restroom plan.

Call (972) 812-6200Get quoteHow often should industrial portable toilets be serviced?
Once a week on a 28-day rental. A standard unit holds 60 gallons of waste, so heavy use fills it fast. Sites with 2 or 3 shifts, or 30 or more workers per unit, usually need 2 or 3 visits per week. Extra service visits are available Monday through Saturday, quoted before they are scheduled.
| Site use | Service plan to ask for |
|---|---|
| 1 shift, light use | Weekly service |
| 1 shift, heavy use | Twice weekly service |
| 2 or 3 shifts | Twice or three times weekly |
| Shutdown with contractor surge | Service on set days, plus extra visits Mon–Sat |
Each visit covers a pump-out, a full clean and sanitize, restocked paper and sanitizer, and fresh deodorizer. We service on a set route day, so tell us if a day of the week is bad for your site.

Do utility and pipeline crews need a trailer-mounted porta potty?
Often, yes. Crews that move every day tow the unit to each new spot, so there is no relocation trip to book. A towable unit still needs 1 pump-out every 7 days. Ask about towable units when you call, and we confirm availability on your quote.

Tell us where the trailer will be parked on service day. A yard address or a pin drop works best. If the crew moves out of our area, call before the move so we can plan service.
Can you add hand wash stations at a plant or warehouse?
Yes. Our two-station hand wash sink holds 22 gallons of fresh water, gives about 350 uses per fill, and has foot pumps, soap and paper towels. Plan 1 sink for every 4 toilets, or one at each cluster. In those calls, 12% of callers (20 of 172) asked for handwashing.
The sink is a PolyJohn Bravo. Per the PolyJohn Bravo specs, it stands 62 inches tall and 26.5 inches wide, so it fits beside a dock door. Portable sinks use unheated water. Your safety manager can tell you if that meets your plant's needs. See our hand wash station details.
Can your drivers work with gated access and badging?
Yes. Tell us your gate hours, check-in steps, badging or safety orientation needs, and PPE rules when you book. We plan each delivery and service visit around them. Our office runs Mon–Sat 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, so service visits happen during those hours. The driver calls 30 to 60 minutes before arriving.
| Site rule | What we need from you |
|---|---|
| Gated entry | Gate code, or a contact who opens the gate |
| Guard shack check-in | The name to give at the gate |
| Badging or orientation | Dates and time needed, booked before the first visit |
| PPE | List of required gear (vest, hard hat, glasses) |
| Escort required | A phone number for the escort |
Ask for the free hasp and padlock if units sit in an open yard.
Do you serve industrial parks around Plano?
Yes. Trucks run from our yard at 6000 Split Trail Rd in east Plano to industrial parks across Plano and nearby cities in Collin, Dallas, Denton and northeast Tarrant counties, including Richardson, Garland, Allen, McKinney and Carrollton. Distance is listed as part of delivery on your itemized quote.
Industrial lots are often paved, which makes placement easy. A unit needs level, firm ground and a spot within about 15 feet of where the truck parks. Keep units out of fire lanes and truck turning paths.
