What sets the price of a porta potty rental?

Location and distance, unit type, dates and rental length, servicing, and quantity. Rush and weekend timing can add a charge. In the calls we reviewed, 64% of callers (110 of 172) asked the price before anything else, so we list every part of the price up front.

  1. Location and distance. Delivery and pickup are two truck trips. Farther addresses cost more to reach from our east Plano yard.
  2. Unit type. A standard unit costs least. Deluxe, accessible, VIP and trailer units cost more.
  3. Dates and length. A day, weekend or week is a flat rate. Long rentals bill per 28-day cycle.
  4. Servicing. Long-term units include weekly service. Event units can add mid-event visits.
  5. Quantity. Several units on one truck trip cost less per unit than separate trips.

Rush and weekend timing. Same-day orders may carry a rush charge. Weekend events cost no extra for the Friday drop and Monday pickup, but Friday routes fill first.

We reviewed 185 recorded calls from people renting porta potties in 2026 (172 reached a live conversation). Prices from the calls are what callers were quoted in the calls we reviewed; your itemized quote from us is the price you pay.

What does your itemized quote include?

Our itemized quote lists 7 lines: the unit, the rental period, delivery, pickup, servicing, sales tax and any rush charge. That total is the out-the-door price. We do not add a fuel surcharge after the quote. Callers often asked, "does that include pickup?" On our quote, pickup is its own line.

The most common complaint in the calls we reviewed was an invoice that came in higher than the quote. Our fix is simple: every charge is on the quote before you pay, and the invoice matches it.

  • Payment is by card at booking: Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Discover.
  • You get a text or email invoice link with e-signature.
  • Contractors can apply for a business account.
  • Cancel or reschedule free until 7 PM the business day before delivery. After that, a trip fee may apply. Same-day orders cancel free until the truck is dispatched.

What were callers quoted for porta potties in 2026?

In 2026 calls we reviewed, a standard event unit for a day or weekend was mostly quoted in the low-to-mid hundreds, all-in. Restroom trailers ran several times that per weekend. These figures show what callers were quoted in the market, not our price list. Your itemized quote is exact.

We pulled these ranges from the recorded calls in our study. They are what callers were quoted in the calls we reviewed; your itemized quote from us is the price you pay.

How does 28-day billing work on a long-term rental?

Long-term rentals bill every 28 days, not by calendar month, so a year has 13 cycles. The first cycle includes delivery, and later cycles cost less. Weekly service is included. Pickup is not automatic: call or text to request pickup, and billing stops the day you ask.

Long-term renters in our study were often confused by two things: 28-day billing and pickup not being automatic. Here is how a remodel rental plays out.

  • Day 1: unit delivered. Cycle 1 begins, with delivery included.
  • Each week: we pump out waste, clean and sanitize, and restock paper and sanitizer.
  • Day 29: cycle 2 begins at the lower cycle price.
  • Job done: you call or text for pickup. Billing stops that day.

Which fees push an invoice over the quote?

Four fees cause most surprise invoices: fuel surcharges, convenience or card fees, removal or pickup fees, and sales tax added after the quote. In one call we reviewed, the invoice came in about 15% over the quote. Ask every company for an out-the-door total with each of these lines shown.

  • Fuel surcharge: a percentage added to the invoice after delivery.
  • Convenience fee: a charge for paying by card or online.
  • Removal or pickup fee: pickup billed as a second charge.
  • Sales tax: left off the quote and added to the invoice.

Example: how a 15% overage adds up (illustration)

LineQuotedInvoiced
Unit, delivery and rental$300.00$300.00
Fuel surchargeNot mentioned$12.00
Card convenience feeNot mentioned$8.25
Sales tax added later (8.25%)Not mentioned$24.75
Total$300.00$345.00 (15% over)

The fees in this example are for illustration. The 15% gap matches what one caller reported.

How can you lower the cost of a porta potty rental?

Five moves help: book by Wednesday to avoid rush charges, choose weekday delivery, right-size the count with our calculator, compare 1 deluxe unit with a sink against a standard unit plus a separate sink, and group several units on one truck trip. Each move cuts a quote line.

  • Book by Wednesday for weekend events. Rush charges only hit late orders.
  • Pick weekday delivery when your dates allow. Friday is the busiest day.
  • Right-size the order with the sizing calculator. Too many units costs money; too few causes lines.
  • Compare deluxe vs. standard plus a sink. A deluxe unit with a built-in sink can cost less than two separate units.
  • Group units on one trip. More units per delivery lowers the trip cost per unit.

Observed in one 2026 call: deluxe with sink vs. standard plus hand wash station

OptionObserved quote
Deluxe flushing unit with built-in sink$290
Standard unit + separate hand wash station$293 + $75 = $368

In one call we reviewed, a deluxe unit with a sink was quoted about $290, while a standard unit plus a separate hand wash station came to about $368 ($293 + $75). That is what one caller was quoted; your itemized quote from us is the price you pay.

Do churches, schools and nonprofits pay sales tax?

Not with a valid certificate. Churches, schools, government agencies and qualifying nonprofits with a valid Texas sales tax exemption certificate pay no sales tax. Send the certificate before you pay. We then remove the sales tax line from the itemized quote. Plano sales tax is 8.25%, so the savings add up on a large event order.

Email the certificate to info@markrentalworks.com or text a photo after you call. Planning a group event? See our event planning guide.

Is the price per day or for the whole rental?

Short rentals are one flat rate per drop-off and pickup, for a day, weekend or week. Callers often asked, "is it per day or for the whole time?" For a weekend event, we drop Friday and pick up Monday, and the extra days cost nothing extra. Long rentals bill per 28-day cycle.

We drop early because drivers cannot promise an exact arrival time. We never risk showing up during your party.

Cost questions

How much is a porta potty for a backyard party?
In 2026 calls we reviewed, callers were mostly quoted $249–$350 all-in for a standard unit for a day or weekend. That is market data, not our price list. Your itemized quote is exact.
Why did my last invoice cost more than the quote?
Usually a fuel surcharge, a card convenience fee, a removal fee or sales tax added after the quote. Our quote shows every line, and we add no fuel surcharge later.
Does the price include pickup?
Yes. Pickup is its own line on our itemized quote, along with delivery, the unit, rental days, servicing, tax and any rush charge.
What does same-day delivery add to the bill?
A rush charge may apply. In calls we reviewed, rush charges ran $75–$250. Ours shows on the quote before you pay.
Why is a restroom trailer so much more than a porta potty?
Trailers have flushing porcelain toilets, running water, lights and climate control, and they tow on a truck. Callers were quoted about $1,500–$3,600 per weekend in 2026 calls we reviewed.
Is a 28-day cycle the same as a month?
No. A 28-day cycle is shorter than most months, so a year has 13 cycles. Billing stops the day you request pickup.
Can I get the price over the phone before I book?
Yes. Call (972) 812-6200 with your address, dates and guest count. We text or email an itemized quote with every charge listed before you pay anything.
