Why does a 75-person event in McKinney need a permit?
McKinney defines a special event as a temporary gathering of 75 or more people for a common purpose. That is a lower bar than the 100-person mark in several nearby cities. The application and fee are due at least 60 days before the event, and the review committee meets 30 to 45 days out.
Read the city's terms on the McKinney special event permit page. Street closures, public property and temporary structures also bring an event under the rules.
The city page does not list a restroom count. Ask the special events office what they want for your crowd. Then size the order with our method: 1 standard unit per 50 guests for up to 4 hours, plus 1 per 100 for longer events, and 1 per 100 if alcohol is served. This is not legal advice.

Call (972) 812-6200Get quoteCan a porta potty go near the downtown McKinney square?
Yes, on private property or with city approval for public space. The square is built around the 1876 Old Collin County Courthouse, with tight streets and little open ground. A standard unit is 43.5 inches wide and 47 inches deep, so units often fit in a rear lot or alley pad.

Downtown businesses and event hosts usually have a back lot or loading area. That is the best spot. Placing a unit in a public street or sidewalk may need city approval, so we set on private property by default.
- Pick a flat, paved spot the truck can reach within about 15 feet.
- Keep doors, fire exits and walkways clear.
- Add a two-station hand wash sink if food is served. It is only 26.5 inches wide.
See our event restroom planning page for clusters and accessible units.
What does McKinney require for construction worker toilets?
McKinney's commercial construction guide cites the 2024 International Plumbing Code: toilet facilities must be provided for construction workers and kept sanitary. Non-sewer units must meet the PSAI Z4.3 standard. On top of that, OSHA Table D-1 sets 1 toilet for every crew of 20 or fewer workers.
Read the McKinney New Commercial Construction Guide for the exact text.

How do your trucks get to east, west and north McKinney?
McKinney is about 17 to 22 miles north of our yard at 6000 Split Trail Rd in east Plano. Most runs take US-75 north, about 25 to 30 minutes. West side homes near Craig Ranch use SH-121, and north side builds near US-380 add another 10 minutes or so.
McKinney covers a lot of ground. East McKinney sits closer to Lake Lavon, and north McKinney has newer phases still under way. We plan routes by area, so give us the full address when you call.
Need a unit today? Call early. Same-day delivery is possible Mon–Sat when a truck and unit are free. In our 2026 review of 185 recorded calls, 19% of callers needed delivery today or tomorrow, often after another vendor failed to show. Read how same-day orders work.
Which restroom suits a wedding or barn venue?
Many McKinney wedding hosts choose a restroom trailer or deluxe flushing units. A restroom trailer needs a standard 110V/20A outlet or a generator, plus a hose hookup or onboard tank. For 150 guests over 6 hours with a bar, our method calls for 7 units and 2 hand wash stations.

Rural venues on the edge of McKinney may have long gravel drives. Tell us the surface and slope. Trailers need level ground and room for a truck and trailer to back in.
- Restroom trailers: 2-stall and 3-stall, climate controlled.
- Deluxe units with a sink: a 20-gallon sink tank good for about 400 hand washes. Plan about 50 guests per deluxe unit.
- Mix deluxe units with standard units for big guest lists.
Does clay soil change where the unit sits?
Yes. McKinney sits on Blackland Prairie clay, which gets sticky and soft after rain and opens deep cracks in dry months. A full 60-gallon holding tank adds a lot of weight, so a unit on wet clay can tilt. We set units on concrete, gravel or packed dirt whenever possible.
Summer heat matters too. Face the door away from the afternoon sun and choose shade if you have it. For multi-day events in July and August, ask about a mid-event service visit.
Many McKinney subdivisions have HOAs with rules on visible items. Ask yours about time limits before a long remodel rental.
